The firm was established by lawyer Francesco Arata on an individual basis in 1991. It was transformed into the Arata e Associati partnership in 2012, in order to create a centre of excellence operating in the field of criminal law.

In addition to regular in-house training, every year the firm promotes training events in business criminal law accredited by the Bar of Milan as part of the continuing professional education programme for lawyers provided by the C.N.F. Regulation of 13 October 2007.
Luigi Bocconi University in Milan has included the firm among its partners for the purposes of the training and professional induction of the young graduates of the university’s law faculty.
